Default Yahoo allows users to control targeted ads

Yahoo has released a tool to allow users to control what targeted ads they will receive. This is based on demands from consumers. It also seems to be an attempt to one up Google. "Google in early November announced a similar service that allows users to see which categories of ads Google's network is delivering to them, based on their browsing activity...Yahoo's Ad Interest Manager appears to offer users even more information than Google's tool, said Ari Schwartz, vice president and chief operating officer of the Center for Democracy and Technology." Yahoo Launches Tool Allowing Users to Control Targeted Ads - NYTimes.com

Seems pretty useful. Do you think this move will benefit Yahoo?

I think this will help Yahoo be more up to date and maybe get generate some business. I don't know if I would advertise on Yahoo as I am not sure how to get a photography site out there to consumers this way.

Its just the way all industry goes. One business does something successful and they all hop on the bandwagon. The question is, is it a bandwagon that is truly good for the consumer?
