Default Finding work

Hi,
Where do you all find your freelancing projects from?
Any recommended sites in particular?
I often find the odd job at webhostingtalk.com and occasionally dnforum.com
Matt

webmaster-talk.com is a good one, a lot of webmasters ask for services there, logos, layout, full websites.

I know SitePoint.com has a very large audience when it comes to freelance work. Perhaps we could get some design and coding contests going here :).

I usually find work on forums. There are freelance websites too. Since I am a writer I mainly only utilize the writing freelance websites.

Ive been in the freelancing work about 2 years now, not as a buyer but as a provider. Im in freelance writing and programming. For the past years, Ive been struggling to find freelance work on bidding sites, which in most cases are very cheap and has the least chance of getting a job . Last year I found a freelance writing site that pays good and has a very good customer support. My income in that site alone as to date is about $1500. Last May, I found a very great site for programmers, technical writers, graphic artists, and data entry work, which my office mate recommened that pays in $ per hour per project. Basically, a freelancer signs up with the company, post his resume, and set his hourly rate. Once account has been activated, he/she can apply for open positions. The buyer chooses candidate by setting up an interview through YM or a phone call. Once hired, the freelancer set up an company owned software that monitors his/her work while he/she is online. This software captures screen shots of the freelancer that is currently working and will be the basis of the freelancer's pay. You even have a repository site were freelancers can post and upload their work. Timesheet will be sent every week for both the buyer and the freelancers. I think this is the future of work were buyer can hire the best around the world, manage, as if they were in the office, and pay only for hours worked. The name of the site is odesk.com. PM me for any programming or technical work you wish to provide and I will help you achieve your business goals through that site.

I joined AbsoluteWrite.com awhile back and they have been a boon to me as far as finding jobs, tips, help. I'd recommend Jenna Glatzer and any of her books as a definite way to start out.
