Why .com is the king ? what's your opinion

Its the king because we are all so used to .com behind ever sites name. Personally whatever extension a site has doesn't really bother me.

I agree with korbind. It is the most common extension, which makes it easy for users to remember.

Right .com is what the internet started with....it makes up the most percentage of websites, and the Search Engines give more weight to .com's

People that aren't that familiar with the internet, automatically think that
a site has to end with a .com...and some think that every site starts with
www.

They tried to kick start other domains but it never really seemed to kick off, with the exception of country suffixes. I think only the .xxx domain is going to be as visited, once it gets approved.

It is my experience that people also seem to think that .com is more secure when compared to some of the others. It is still king and I think that it will stay that way.

Because that's what everyone is familiar with; when they first get online they type blahblah.com etc. Not .net or .org

I think it is because .com is the first TLD and the most widely used since the beginning. While it is considered standing for "commercial", before I thought it stand for "computer" LOL.
