Default What makes a domain name worth money?

Hey guys, I was thinking we should all put our 2 cents here and tell everyone what makes us personally think a domain is valuable.

For sure, 2 letter real authentic domains are, I find 2 words that go well together make it the best though.

Example: gameover.com - everyone games :: counter-strike source custom map packs

:::: -This Site is Under Construction- ::::

What about you guys?

Something memorable and catchy that relates to the site, I suppose.
Anything can work if the content is good enough but if you want to be easily found in a directory or be a name people want to click on in PPC, catchy and professional sounding are good for starters.

As of today, a domain could be worth buying for if it is brandable and is recieving already a huge traffic. As you will see those 2, 3, 4, 5 letters domain are filed and you cannot get a domain on these counted letters which can be considered brandable or valuable.

AS said by Dana, another thing is that, if it is catchy enough, then that could be valuable.

So today, the game is the traffic your site generates and how popular you site is, not the domain alone.

If you want to get a new good domain, you should have a good imagination, it is so hard to find a new catchy domain as almost everything is taken.

I just came up with one really good and checked it out, turns out its available under all (.com,.ca, etc) so I want to register it, but I need a cheap register with parking available. What cheap domain registery that has parking takes Paypal? (1 year registered domain)

Also, I need to know about parking, does it cost money? How do you make money from parking a domain?

Thanks,
Jason

Do GoDaddy take PayPal? If not PayPal me plus $5 to cover pp fees and I'll pay for you.

There are a lot of things that contribute to the value of a domain but to me the most important are lenght, easily remebered, easy to spell, and catchy. I think Dana had it pretty dead on how most domains are valued.

Keywords are the most important part, in my opinion. I think the best way to value a domain name is by the relevance of the keyword(s) in the domain.

This makes it more valuable for resell, because the traffic will be targeted to the new website put on the domain.

I just don't get it, why there are still people around would buy the domain at very high price, althought the domain name itself sounds unpleasant to me...

For an example, would you want to spend over thousand of dollars, just to buy the "s**t.com" or "F**k.com"?
