Pacific Science is not an ordinary science discussion forum.
This science/ weather site is based on the climate and weather across the Pacific Basin, bounded by the Rim of Fire. It also looks at the interconnectedness of geological phenomena and biological/ ecological interactions. As these processes are interconnected with other regions around the world - these are brought in for analysis and discussion.
We have a forecaster, Bob, who draws from many resources to produce weekly forecasts for many places around the Pacific and the World. Also, Tropical discussions from all oceanic basins are conducted on a regular basis.
The human aspect cannot be ignored, a Current Affairs section discusses events, people and places from all over the world.
For members, there are off topic areas covering a range of topics, from cooking to gardening.
Now with all that been said, it is not an academic site per se - the main focus is science and current affairs from the media.
